Procedural writing by Kotipi

Kia Ora, and welcome to my procedural on how to write a procedural.

First you need to start with one step at a time. You need to be specific and say interesting words in your procedural. Before all of that though you, have to start with a greeting like how I started at the beginning. Then write what you are going to do your procedural about. Remember be specific about what you say in your sentences.

Secondly write about your subject or what your procedural is going to be about. Make sure if you have one idea then one paragraph, if you have another idea then another new paragraph. Also make sure that you don’t just write one sentence. Like I said before add some specific words and also add detail.

Thirdly or  lastly  write a conclusion, write  what was at the beginning but not to much. Also write what you think it’s good for, or something maybe in common. Then you are done. Thank you for reading my procedural.

My favourite place in New Zealand by Diego

My favourite place in New Zealand.

My favourite place in New zealand is rainbows end because it has  rides food and  movie games that look like you're on the ride. The scariest ride that I like is the rollercoaster because it goes upside down
It was so fun and scary and the one that I like the most in the rainbows end was fear fall because when you go up you go down really fast that will make you scream really loud then it goes slow when it is near the bottom of it that is my favourite and my heart was beating so fast that I got scared.

When I went on some rides I felt hungry so I had burger hotdog chips coke and cotton candy after I got tired so I wanted to go home.It was the best day ever.

The Time I Was Proud Of Myself...by Agueer

Intro- Kia Ora today I am writing about when I was proud of myself. It is about when I had a maths test, I did mine late after the others because I was away.

Middle 1-It was in June when it happened, we were doing our science with room 10 then Mrs Riley (my teacher) called me and Nurul to do the test. For each sheet we had 50  questions but the time me and Nurul had was 4 minutes.

Middle 2- The next day Mrs Riley told me my result, when I heard it I was proud of myself a lot. Each of our class got letters like A B C D and E. I got an A- and my friend Kotipi got a B- her score was 131 and mine was 168 which made me an A-.

In conclusion I am very proud of myself and also Kotipi for getting the two highest marks.

Practicing our routine by Kate

These are photos of of room 9 practising our routine. The two students from room nine who
created the routine was Limiteti and I. It was a lot
of work teaching the rest of room 9 the routine
but it was mostly the boys. The first step in the routine was skip and kick three times. After practising for about two days they finally got it.
The next step was to choose if you want to do
double dutch our just normal skipping with the big ropes. When we presented our routine it felt
really cool.

Have you ever wondered....

Have you ever wondered what a totally fantastic day might look like?  Well if you are in room 9 the answer could be receiving news that one of our class members will have a piece of writing published in the Toi Toi series.  This was so unexpected.  We hoped that it would be selected but knew that there were so many students submitting written work, that the "odds be ever in our favour" probably wouldn't be.
We are all so incredibly proud of her work and she has inspired others in the class to try to create written work that will be selected one day too.

With hard work, perseverance, time and effort we can achieve great things.  This shows us all that anyone/everyone can be better than before.

Term 3 begins.

Welcome back to another great term.  So many different opportunities to learn new and exciting things.

However I would like to start by looking back...........as far back as the last week of term 2.  It was a bleak Thursday morning and the tension in the air was almost unbearable.  This day would be the one where human endurance, courage and will-power would be on display.
It was the morning of the senior school skip off.  Four worthy competitors from each class would battle it out for the supreme reward of being crowned 2017 Skip Off Champ.
Room 12 had students that had smarts, they would be using every trick in the book to beat every challenger.  They had years of experience  behind them and had shown mental toughness before.
Room 10 had two of the fittest girls in the school (probably in the whole community).  They would not be giving up without a fight.
Room 9 students felt the weight of pressure placed on them by their teacher who begged, nagged, pleaded and begged some more for a win.  This was going to be an epic battle.
Each student took their place and prepared to begin.  The timer started and the battle was on.  Students and teachers from the sideline cheered and encouraged their classmates.  I had every finger and toe crossed.
A lapse in concentration saw the first skipper (from room 9) stumble out of the competition.  As the time went on each challenger fell away until there were only two titans remaining. Room 9 and 10 had made it to the final.  Each girl had been skipping for over 7 minutes.
The crowd grew quiet, each of us willing both girls strength to continue on.  At 9 minutes 49 seconds the runner up lost concentration and handed the win over to Limiteti from room 9.  I was incredibly proud of her as she collapsed onto the ground after a staggering 9 minutes 52 seconds of skipping.
Congratulation Limiteti and even thought I did so much begging and pleading it turns out that every cloud does have a silver lining.  Well done 2017 Skip Off Champ - Miss Limiteti.

Te korowai

On Wednesday some class rooms went to the Ruapotaka Marae to see the Korowai. We learnt how many Maraes and how many houses are going to be built in Mabury. Some people went up and picked up little plastic houses, and they got to put the houses on the Korowai. The people that went to go up from Room 9 was Tyresse,Kotipi and Shaniqua. It was an amazing day to go to the Marae!

It was fun.
The whale was stuck.
The people helped him be safe.
People run to get water and put on the whale so he would not die.
There was lot of sand and they stood on it.

Soccer skills week 2

On Wednesdays we have soccer with Hannah. Learning new skills with her was really cool. I liked the game when we had bibs that were hanging off from our pants.  I also liked playing the game where we each have soccer balls and we have to dribble it to the end, without the person in the middle kick our balls out of the square. Lastly I liked it when we got to learn new skills which was really fun.

Rewind by Shaniqua

Today I am going to talk about what happened in a video when I was talking about when I was away.

The first thing that happened in the video was me saying that I was away then the next day I came back to school Diego and Musika showed me what to do on the cybersmart tip top.

It was a good thing that Diego and Musika helped me because I was away and I did not know what to do so they helped me so I can catch up with the other people in Rm 9.

when Diego and Musika helped me I felt really happy and I did not felt like i was left behind when everyone in room 9 did the cybersmart tip top.

LadyBugs

When we made the Ladybugs we went to Mrs Riley at the back of the classroom.First we had to get our chromebooks out. Then Mrs Riley gave us one red and black paper each, everyone needed glue and some eyes some of us used the copied ones and the big ones made their own.

We followed the instructions to  make it so it turned out just as the one on the internet. It took at lot of effort to do it because if we wanted it to right we had to try. We cut out the red and black paper. For the black paper I cut some polka dots so I could stick them on the Ladybug.
I’m sure it’s wings were open, then I squeezed the glue onto the polka dots then glued it down.My two favourites were Shaniqua’s and Limiteti’s.

That is my Report on Ladybugs.

dragonfly

                                Dragonflies

First we got a image from Mrs Riley with a dragonfly picture that we had to paint on top of.We used a lot of colours, there was red, blue, pink, black, green, purple, white, yellow and more colours. But it was in a paint tray,we had to use paint brushes and put gloves on our hand so we didn’t get messy!

Next we put the gloves on then we dipped our brushes into the paint then painted our dragonfly. We tried our best to stay on the lines and paint inside. The dragonfly had a very small body and a very fat pair of wings. When we finished painting out dragonfly we had to paint the background,my background was red it was a random choice so I just chose red.

Shaniqua was the first one to finish hers was black and purple tome hers was like a Halloween Dragonfly.I really liked her one because it stood out and it was Fearless to me.For glitter we used nail polish to glam it up a bit and make it shine.

Swimming instructors

It has been a good start to the year and to top it all off we have got free swimming lessons from swimming instructors. We were very excited and hot because it was a hot glorious day. I learnt that it is easy when your head is on your chin when you are swimming. I really liked that when you swim you can always turn around and kick while your on your back.

Duffy Theater

Duffy and weather girl saves the day.

Last week Duffy came to our school. He performed a show about how important it is to read. There was a lot of characters like Global Girl, Duffy, Moana and many other different characters. Duffy has noticed there has been a strange type of weather in Auckland, But one day Duffy was reading a book under a tree and he noticed that something was flying. It was Global Girl that was flying in the sky. The problem was that Global girl couldn't read.  So Duffy started to teach Global Girl how to read.  He said the easiest way to read was to learn by pictures.
